Welcome
The goal of my classroom is to increase mathematical fluency and to strengthen the overall understanding of mathematic rules and concepts. I incorporate notes, book assignments, handouts and occasional activities or mathematics games into my curricula. I differentiate my classes according to math levels, understanding and ability. I enjoy seeing kids improve their math skills and become more confident in answering math related problems.
I have worked with the St. Mary’s School District for a total of 9 years as the 7-12th grade math teacher. Before I taught math, I worked as a Civil Engineer for companies in Anchorage and Fairbanks. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering and a Drafting Technologies Certificate at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alaska Southeast. I was an active member in ANSEP and AISES throughout my college career and I also attended RAHI at UAF.
I think that the students and staff at St. Mary’s make it a special place to work at because St. Mary’s is a close-knit community where everyone is either related to each other or generations of families grew up together. The staff is very personable and the students are great once you get to know them.
