Before teaching, I worked as a writer with numerous articles published in Houston, TX-area newspapers. Several of my poems have been published, as well.

I love art and music, which I view as integral to the study of English Language Arts. In addition to my teaching practice, I am a mosaic artist; my work has been exhibited in galleries and art shows in my hometown of Houston, TX. In my spare time, I love to play guitar, piano, sing, and produce music; in high school and college, I was very active on the local club circuit in Houston.

St. Mary’s School District is set within one of the most picturesque landscapes. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful people, and the students and staff get to know each other far better than most other schools in the U.S. By the same token, the impact that teachers make on their students (and vice versa) is a huge and gratifying part of what makes St. Mary’s a special place to teach and learn.
